It is extremely important to maximize the cooling efficiency from your system with airflow management techniques. Brush grommets seal underfloor air leakage at cable and pipe penetrations, one of the most critical factors that needs to be addressed in a data center. These practices result in a more efficient cooling system, lowering operating costs and protecting equipment.
Airflow problems
Hot Spots – An area where air temperature is above acceptable levels usually caused by insufficient cool air supply or an excess of re-circulation.
Air leaking – Where air passes through penetrations in walls and floors.
Air mixing – Uneven air pressure between a hot and cold aisle resulting in cold air to leak into the hot aisle.
Re-circulation – when more cold air is needed. Hot air recirculates from the back of the server and mixes with cold air in the front.
Short circuiting – hot air not returning directly to the CRAC unit
Obstructions / Air dams – Various cables, piping, cable trays or electrical conduit can limit airflow to perforated tiles or cause obstructions overhead in air returns.
Negative airflow – When room air is drawn down into perforated floor tiles because under floor air velocity is much greater than the return air flow.
